Sean Hanlon serves as Trademark Litigation Of Counsel at TMBTQ, where his practice is dedicated to a full scope of trademark services including trademark clearance, prosecution, brand enforcement, portfolio management, and litigation.
He earned his J.D. from George Washington University Law School, where he served as President of the Entertainment and Sports Law Association (ESPLA) and had the honor of learning from Michael Jordan’s agent, David Falk, as a professor and mentor.
Sean began his legal career in-house, where he managed the global IP portfolio of copyrights and trademarks for a cosmetics company. He later clerked for an entertainment and IP boutique firm in New York City, where he conducted litigation research for the estate of an infamous musician and guitar player. Prior to joining TMBTQ, he provided trademark advice for over 2,000 trademarks in a high-volume practice with a high rate of success prosecuting, negotiating, and acquiring federal trademark rights for his clients.
Sean is committed to a high standard of care and transparency for his clients. He puts himself in his clients’ shoes to provide unbiased business risk assessments, and often uses the mantra, “bad news is not bad advice”, when advising clients on how to strategically pivot or pursue a brand; this is done to mitigate risk and maximize reward for each client.
